The Wayzata Conservancy has partnered with the City of Wayzata to create a memorial honoring the 20th anniversary of the 9/11/2001 attacks on the World Trade Center.

A Minnesota Memorial for the 20th Anniversary of September 11th, 2001
Give your community a quiet place of peace & reflection where one can think about the lives lost, while also acknowledging all persons impacted by the attacks. Inscriptions on the memorial will serve as a reminder of the countless sacrifices & acts of bravery.

We remember all who were injured or perished, all volunteers & first responders who united to answer the call, and those were touched by the events of September 11, 2001.
This is your opportunity to honor the Wayzata community with a beautiful tribute to one of Minnesota's native sons Gordy Aamoth Jr., and the lives of all victims of September 11th. By making a donation of any amount you are committing to a more connected, clean & welcoming Lakeshore in Wayzata for future generations to come!
Help preserve history within our community. Included in this memorial will be several pieces of the fallen World Trade Center gifted to the city of Wayzata by the Aamoth Family, who's son died in the attack on Sept. 11th, 2001.

Add to the beauty & cultural significance of downtown Wayzata. The striking design will feature two 27-foot-long horizontal plinths resembling the iconic silhouette of the Twin Towers on the New York City skyline. The granite plinths will also serve as benches for visitors.

The Birch Grove was completed in the Fall of 2020. Located adjacent to the new Plaza Park, nine birch trees evoke a sense of serenity & connection to the natural beauty of Wayzata.

Photography Exhibition
Sept. 10 - Oct. 1, Minnetonka Center for The Arts
The Wayzata Conservancy in partnership with the Minnetonka Center for the Arts has planned a public exhibit at the Center for Arts featuring the photography of Minnesotans Lisa Poseley, Chris Kern, and Dan Murphy who bore eye witness to this horrific act of terrorism but also how we came together in response. The exhibit will be open to the public beginning on Friday September 10th at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts.
Memorial Opening Event
Sept. 11, Birch Grove - Plaza Park, Wayzata
The Wayzata Conservancy in partnership with the city of Wayzata will be hosting a community gathering to introduce the memorial monument and honor the 20th Anniversary of 9/11.
Event begins at 10 am.
Renderings of the monument co-designed by Denver-based urban design firm Civitas and Peter Aamoth, an associate of Minneapolis-based James Dayton Design & the youngest brother of Gordy Aamoth Jr.
